Our Values

The EPS Group are committed to delivering innovative and sustainable expanded polystyrene (EPS) solutions while upholding the highest standards of environmental responsibility, product integrity, and industry leadership. Our values guide every aspect of our business and reflect our dedication to our customers, communities and the planet.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

The EPS Group are committed to championing sustainability, and it is at the core of how we operate. We recognise the vital role we play in driving innovation, improving resource efficiency, and meeting our environmental responsibilities. Through ongoing collaboration and a commitment to best practices, we embed sustainability into every stage of operations – from product design and manufacturing to logistics and end-of-life solutions.

Members of the EPS Group are deeply committed to sustainability as an integral part of their broader corporate responsibility. This commitment is demonstrated through active participation in initiatives such as Operation Clean Sweep (OCS), the achievement of recognised quality and environmental standards across manufacturing sites, the adoption of renewable energy sources, and the advancement of recycling efforts. Across all activities, members strive to act with integrity and transparency, ensuring sustainable practices are embedded at every level of operation.

Operation Clean Sweep

Operation Clean Sweep

Operation Clean Sweep is an industry-led program that supports companies in their efforts towards eliminating plastic pellet, flake and powder loss in operations to preserve water quality, protect the environment, and strengthen worker safety. The UK program is led by the British Plastics Federation (BPF).

By signing up to OCS you commit as a company to take the necessary steps to prevent plastic pellet, flake and powder leaking into the environment via your operations.

The EPS Group are proud supporters of Operation Clean Sweep, working proactively to prevent pellet loss and minimise environmental impact across our operations. EPS Group members are dedicated to reducing waste, promoting recyclability and continually improving processes to support a circular economy.

Excellence in Quality

The EPS Group align and exceed UK and European industry standards, ensuring that every product meets rigorous performance, safety, and compliance benchmarks. From packaging to construction, our EPS solutions are trusted for their durability, reliability and efficiency.

ISO standards are internationally agreed by experts to define the best methods. Critically they are independently audited and are used to verify the reliability of a manufacturer. The EPS Group members adhere to a variety of industry standards including:

  • ISO 9001 is a quality management standard that delivers efficient work processes and reduces product failures.
  • ISO 14001 is an environmental management standard that helps to reduce environmental impacts, reduces waste and works to build sustainability.
  • ISO 45001 is a health and safety standard that helps to reduce accidents in the workplace.
  • BRCGS (formerly BRC) is a global standard for food safety and an international benchmark for best practice in food safety, quality and responsibility. A BRCGS certified site is audited to stringent standards.

In addition, some of our members have invested in renewable energy and have food safety certification demonstrating that sustainability is one of their core values.

Integrity and Transparency

The EPS Groups values are built on honesty, accountability and open communication. To demonstrate this the EPS Group members support and develop their own Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). They are proof of a manufacturer’s commitment to sustainability. EPDs are an industry-approved, standardised document that precisely reports a product’s environmental impact across its entire lifecycle.

They provide data for Whole Life Carbon Assessments (WLCA) of buildings and infrastructure projects and are used by manufacturers, architects, designers, and engineers to understand and communicate a product’s environmental performance.

An EPD provides transparent information about a products environmental impact including the carbon footprint of a product, and it covers various environmental impacts like resource depletion, energy consumption, emissions, and waste generation. They have to be independently verified by a qualified third-party organisation to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the information. They follow global standards to ensure consistency and credibility. EN 15804 sets the rules for creating Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for construction products. ISO 14025 defines EPDs as standardised third-party verified reports on a product’s environmental impact. ISO 14001 supports this by ensuring the data is accurate and comes from a robust environmental management system.

Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for construction products are typically published and listed by EPD program operators or national/international databases.

Generic EPDs are based on industry-average data or typical production processes rather than a single company’s actual operations. They provide aggregated data from manufacturers to demonstrate the environmental credentials of a product. View EUMEPS Generic EPDs for EPS Insulation.
