Civil engineering using EPS

The range of applications for civil engineering is wide, each application often with specific design inputs.

Use of EPS as a flotation medium in marinas is well established as is its use as a light weight fill for road and rail embankments. EPS is also used to reduce lateral pressure on the sides of civil engineering constructions thus reducing the structural costs due to its very low Poissons ratio.

A low density product, designed to combat clay heave pressure in foundations has been successfully used since 1990 and further developments in this area have been made by specialist converters.
