Reptile delivery

If you have ever wondered how that salamander or snake arrived at the pet shop down the high street … wonder no more.

A wholesaler will have sent it to the shop, in a very carefully planned pack.

“We transport snakes, lizards, amphibians, tortoises and insects in EPS boxes,” explains Keith, MD of Strictly Reptiles.

“We need to keep the creatures we send out to shops warm, safe and comfortable and they are shipped according to strict regulations.

“A typical pack for a reptile will be an EPS box with holes in the lids and a heater in it. This is carefully placed in a cardboard carton — adding to the strength and insulation — which has labels on it telling the carrier how to handle it and what to do in the event of an emergency.”
