Sculpting with EPS
Children at Faringdon Junior School in Oxfordshire were able to get some hands on experience of sculpture thanks to the generous donation of 20 small blocks of EPS delivered to their door by Linpac Moulded Foams in Chichester.
The event was run by local sculptor Michie Hebert who spent the first week of February 2004 as an artist in residence at the school.
Michie, who is also creating a sculpture for nearby Folly Park wanted to work with the children on the themes of ideas of nature, the environment, organic materials and shapes in the landscape.
“The week went incredibly well”, says Michie. “It has been really thrilling to see the work that the children produce. They were all very excited by the EPS blocks because they offered the opportunity to work on such a large scale and most of them chose the EPS over the other materials that were available.
