On the Road

EPS packaging is used by businesses all over the UK, from fisherman to large fish processors, from small market gardeners to supermarkets and by large electronics manufacturers to import components and to package high value items en route from the warehouse to customers' homes.

Despite its major role in supporting this cross-section of UK industries, EPS is a rather under-valued packaging material. People are often not aware of its exceptionally successful recycling record and its safe environmental credentials.

As part of his role as Environmental Affairs Manager for the EPS Packaging Group, Andrew Barnetson tours the country visiting users of EPS to keep them up to date with the latest information on these important issues.

“These days environmental performance is an important part of any company's credentials; shareholders and the local community expect to see enterprises of all sizes acting in the best interests of sustainability and the environment.

“My role is to help companies by providing information, advice and support about EPS as a material and to help facilitate recycling it. Used EPS is a valuable resource that need not be put into landfill but can play a second, important and useful role in the UK economy.

“Over the past month I have been in South Wales, Cirencester, Grimbsy, Cornwall, Aberdeen and Shetland. It does not matter where you are in the UK, I can visit your company. If you would like to know more about EPS and how to set up an economically viable recycling scheme — contact me on tel: 020 7457 5014 or email: info@bpf.co.uk and we can arrange a convenient time for me to visit you.
