Two benches manufactured from recycled expanded polystyrene wood substitute were donated to Manor School. Raunds, Northamptonshire by EPS Packaging Group member, SCA Tuscarora.
The benches, which are maintenance free and will not fade or rot like wood, will be placed in the school sports area for spectators.
Jonathan Haddock, Chairman of the EPS Packaging Group and Managing Director of SCA Tuscarora, who presented the benches to Head Teacher, Paul Wingfield and students from the school's youth council, commented: "The benches provide a useful demonstration to the students of the positive uses that can be made of used packaging if it is collected and recycled."
The pupils were delighted with their new benches and Katherine Harman, 12, said: "I think they're really good because they're helping the environment."
Paul Wingfield said "It is quite amazing that the material used to produce these benches was originally manufactured to protect products such as cookers and TV's during transit".
