Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is well known for its insulating properties; it keeps fresh fish cold and takeaway food hot.

This winter it faces an unusual task — it is helping to keep animals in Edinburgh Zoo warm through the winter frosts and freezes.
EPS Packaging Group member, Tuscarora, donated enough large sheets of EPS to line the cages of the reptiles and the big cats in Edinburgh Zoo. Glynn Houghton, Tuscacora's Sales and Marketing Director explains: "EPS has excellent thermal qualities, it keeps the heat in and the cold out and the fact that the material is durable and lightweight made it easy to install. "We were delighted to help the animals keep warm, although I decided against a personal 'thank you' from the lions and tigers!" |
