The Dixons Group/Flo-Pak (UK) Ltd scheme to recycle expanded polystyrene has been short listed for the Environmental Improvement Award, one of the Packaging Industry Awards 2001.
The Environmental Improvement Award is sponsored by INCPEN. It ‘aims to promote and celebrate environmental improvement, in all its many forms, achieved within the packaging arena’.
The Expanded Polystyrene Packaging Group which promotes the scheme and entered it for the award is delighted: "There were thirty entries and only ten were short listed, so we are really pleased to have got this far. This is an excellent recycling scheme that demonstrates the importance of co-operative relationships between the three organisations" says Bridget Bouch, PR Manager, the EPS Packaging Group.
"The fact that over 500 tons of post-consumer EPS packaging from the Dixons Group has been recycled since late 1998 amply illustrates the success of this project". |
