Bicycle Helmet Initiative Trust (BHIT) 11th Anniversary

The Bicycle Helmet Initiative Trust (BHIT) celebrated its first anniversary on 11 October 1999. The EPS Packaging Group sponsored the BHIT’s miniature bicycle helmets that are designed to hold eggs.

These helmets give a dramatic demonstration of the value of a bicycle helmet an egg is placed in a helmet, dropped and survives intact. The helmets with complementary leaflets have been very successful campaigning tools.

Around 600 helmets have been distributed to health professionals with the leaflets and they have appeared on BBC News, BBC Newsround and at conferences and seminars across the UK.

Rare turtle saved

A rare turtle that was washed up on a beach in Wales after a 4,500 mile journey from the Gulf of Mexico survived the cold British weather with the help of EPS to insulate its 100-gallon tank. The turtle has been safely returned to Florida courtesy of the RAF and British Airways.
