  • The BPF took a sponsored group of 12 UK plastics manufacturers to Chinaplas 2000 on 4-7 July 2000.The Government Export Promotion Services identified China as a high priority for the UK Plastics market and the trip to Chinaplas was made with government support.
  • The BPF continues its fight against the Climate Change Levy. After 15 months of lobbying the Minister for Competitiveness, Alan Johnson admitted that the Levy would not be ‘revenue neutral’ for the plastics industry at a recent meeting with the BPF. However the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Stephen Timms continues to argue in its favour. A detailed report of the BPF campaign against the Levy can be obtained from Martin Cairns on 0207 457 5043
