Re-using EPS

EPS is a safe material that can be re-used in many ways.
Some suggestions are:

  • EPS can be broken into large chunks and placed in the bottom of window boxes and plant pots in the garden. It aids drainage (like broken terracotta) and as an added benefit it provides insulation during a cold winter.
  • An old EPS box can be used as a seed tray — just drill a few holes for drainage and it provides a perfect growing environment.
  • If your EPS box is clean and dry it can be usefully employed to store items in the loft and it provides protection for fragile items.
  • A clean EPS box with a soft blanket inside provides a warm bed for a pet.
  • You can keep an EPS box in the boot of your car to transport frozen or chilled items home.
  • Use an EPS box to keep drinks and food cool for picnics.
  • If you need to transport fragile items, wrap them and put them in an EPS box for added protection.
