EPS (expanded polystyrene) is familiar to consumers as the material from which polystyrene packaging is made. In this humble, but vital, role EPS protects valuable items in transit from the factory to our homes.

Increasingly EPS is also seen by designers as an interesting and versatile material to work with. When well-known figures in the design world, such as Tom Dixon and Michael Sodeau, embrace EPS it encourages younger designers to look again at the fresh possibilities offered by this unique material.

Since the groundbreaking Tom Dixon EPS Chair in September 2007, the BPF EPS Group has been actively seeking ways to connect with the design community.

The design projects in this section show with pictures and words the highlights of these endeavours.
