Applications
EPS is the most versatile insulation product used in construction finding applications for the insulation of walls, floors and roofs. It can also be used in a specially designed form to mitigate the forces generated by clay heave in foundations.
In addition it has a range of uses in the civil engineering field where its high strength properties give EPS a unique position as a lightweight fill in road and rail construction.
History and experience
EPS has been used in the UK since the 1950’s and has stood the test of time. Many applications have independent long term approval by the BBA – British Board of Agrement. The earliest such approval for floor insulation being granted in 1987.
Continental experience can also be cited for long term use in various applications both for insulation purposes and for road embankment construction for example, where the first use was in Norway in 1965.
