Use of EPS as a flotation medium in marinas is well established as is its use as a light weight fill for road and rail embankments. EPS is also used to reduce lateral pressure on the sides of CE constructions thus reducing the structural costs due to its very low Poissons ratio.

A low density product, designed to combat clay heave pressure in foundations has been successfully used since 1990 and further developments in this area have been made by specialist converters.
