Four into One

Carron Phoenix, is the largest producer of granite sinks in the world. From its manufacturing site in Falkirk it produces a range of granite, stainless steel and ceramic kitchen sinks for export worldwide.

Carron Phoenix wanted an EPS pack and lid to accommodate four different sink designs and to pass stringent drop testing specifications.

The resulting pack has an expanded polystyrene box base and lid. The cavities in the base are designed to snugly hold each different sink in place. External corner pockets are used to protect the vulnerable edges and handhold areas are included for ease of production handling.

Consideration had to be given to each sink's different stress points to ensure the universal pack successfully withstood 11 drops with each individual sink. Carron Phoenix was delighted when the new pack surpassed all tests.

“The pack is designed to suit all of the sinks in the range. Combining four in one gave considerable savings, not only on tool costs, but also on longer production runs. Reducing the number of component parts needed to give full protection, in turn reduced the labour required to assemble the final pack,” says Jonathan Haddock, Managing Director of SCA Tuscarora, the manufacturers of this innovative packaging solution.
