BPF News

Amidst persistent rumours of increases in the Climate Change Levy (CCL) the British Plastics Federation (BPF) has again asked the Government to get rid of the CCL and suggests that it should be replaced by agreements with industry to reduce energy usage.

Peter DavisPeter Davis, BPF Director General, says: "We want the Levy withdrawn. It would be catastrophic for the UK’s manufacturing industry if the CCL is increased, especially when the Government is already planning a substantial rise in Employers' NICS next April."

Concerns about the Climate Change Levy are running particularly high in the manufacturing sector at the moment. They are fuelled by talk from Whitehall, and the energy industry, of additional energy taxation either through the CCL or by the addition of a new Carbon Tax in next April's budget.
