EPS Recycling continues to grow
The EPS Packaging Group is pleased to announce that once again the recycling of expanded polystyrene has increased.
"We announced a recycling rate for the year 2000 of 15 per cent," says Andrew Barnetson.
"During 2001 our recycling rate grew to 18 per cent of the EPS packaging manufactured in 2001. We are very pleased with this level, which is one of the highest for plastics recycling in the UK.
"We expect to see a steady increase over the next two years as market conditions make the economics more rewarding for manufacturers.
"The arrival of a new recycler, Green Waste Recycling, is also encouraging. Green Waste can recycle large amounts of fish boxes and is currently looking for more regular sources of material.
"We are actively encouraging more businesses to consider the benefits of setting up an EPS recycling scheme," concludes Barnetson.
