New Architects’ and Building Specifiers’ Guide provides authoritative information on Expanded Polystyrene in construction

The UK industry group representing manufacturers of EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) for construction applications has issued a new, free-of-charge, 20 page technical guide for specifiers.

The new definitive guide is available in hard-copy or PDF format to UK architectural practices and construction company specifiers. It provides the latest information on every aspect of EPS in building, construction and civil engineering applications and sets out to provide easy answers to issues ranging from environmental credentials to performance, safety and production standards.

The new specifier briefing booklet has been compiled by industry experts under the guidance of the British Plastics Federation to give an overview of the advantages of EPS as a leading insulation material for construction industry applications. It follows the news that EPS scored the highest A+ summary rating in every one of four different densities tested in the latest and most rigorous BRE Global Green Guide to Specification – a conclusion supported by at least eight ‘straight As’ in each of the separate impact ratings for each EPS density.

The new specifier guide also launches a new logo identity for the EPS Construction Group which will be used to bring unity to all future communications to industry customers. The guide is split into four sections including EPS applications; production and composition; standards and performance; and sustainability credentials. It is available to download here.

Launching the new specifier briefing, Chairman of the EPS Construction Group, Philip Cheshire said, “In developing this guide, we were determined to provide the kind of specialist information that our architectural and construction specifiers need in a single, authoritative booklet. We also aim to reinforce, through hard facts, that EPS offers outstanding advantages and excellent credentials across a wide range of applications from floor, wall and ceiling insulation to civil engineering. EPS is a long-established, high-performance material offering a unique combination of solutions in the building sector.”
